Anise Scented Hyssop And Bees

A bee enjoying an Anise Hyssop blossom in our garden.  Hyssop is a hardy drought tolerant perennial herb that blooms throughout the summer starting in June,  its attractive anise scented blue flowers are a magnet for pollinators like bees and butterflies. The spiky blue flower heads hold their beautiful lavender blue color even after they’re done blooming. Use the flower heads fresh or dried to make an herbal tea, or use them as a garnish on top of summer fruit salads or cucumber gazpacho.
